This unique high school credit course can better prepare students for the Music Business Management program at Durham College.
— Kathryn Waugh, Professor/Program Coordinator, Music Business Management, Durham College
The Music Business is a one-of-a-kind course that would really give any high school student insight into what the music business is and really give them a jump on some content in Music Industry Arts at Fanshawe College. There are few, if any, courses like this for high school students and I am always asked what courses students can take to start learning about the music industry. The fact that a student can get a high school credit while starting to learn about this industry is incredible and would really look great on the Music Industry Arts application. The course was created by Canada’s Music Incubator/Coalition Music which means a student is learning from real industry professionals, like MIA at Fanshawe College. I wish I could have taken a course like this in High School!
— DAN BRODBECK, COORDINATOR/PROFESSOR, MUSIC INDUSTRY ARTS, FANSHAWE COLLEGE

What we try to do is prepare students by developing entrepreneurship, good business acumen, and marketable skills that they can apply either in the music industry or beyond.
— Sean Kelly, instrumental/vocal music teacher, Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB)

There have been kids that have come to this class that have been lost and don’t know what they want to do with their life. After this class, they have a vision, they have a purpose, and they know what they want to do.
— Shannon Lew, Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts, Toronto District School Board (TDSB)

In our board, we’re talking a lot about 21st century learning – authentic and multidisciplinary learning – connecting the dots on various aspects. Being an entrepreneur, having a brand, selling it, and being highly creative are forces that enable a person to succeed fully.
